2022 Roadmap

Here’s the link for the article, if you want the deep dive go read that; I’m going to focus on what I’m looking forward too the most.

First up – Class System

I’ve been racing almost daily since January 2021, it’s fair to say that racing has got quite stale for me personally. For me racing is about glory and winning, yet there’s still no incentive to be placed in Class 1.

This has led to down classing being prevalent, which has made racing almost impossible for new stables as they’re having to compete with some of the games best horses in Class 3 & 4. Not ideal.

Enter Zeds NEW Class System.

We’ll now see six classes instead of five and we’re seeing ELO enter the ecosystem.

Whilst I still want to see Class One horses being rewarded for racing in the premier class, I do believe that this new class system will go a long way to reinvigorate racing once again.

Next up – ZED RUN Tokens

The arrival of “DEZ” aka Zed Run Tokens is finally upon us. This has been the talk of the community ever since ZED released their first Whitepaper, years ago.

I can’t wait for this to come, I believe it’ll add a whole new layer to the ecosystem that’s much needed. Much of this years roadmap is geared to introduce Zed Run Tokens one way or another.

The official article outlines how they intend to use the token

“The ZED RUN token will play a critical role in establishing the new foundation for racing, breeding, lending and guilds and as such will underpin all ongoing development. The ZED RUN token will be used across the platform, and can be held by members of the community to exchange for in game activities.”

Something I’ve not seen discussed much recently is the mention of “Guilds”, will this allow stables to band together and work as one in order to provide cheaper breed costs etc?

Personally, I own a few stables split amongst 2 people and having an easier system to manage them would be amazing and hugely time saving. So I definitely can’t wait to hear more about this.

Racehorse Retirement

Zed Run are finally providing us with a burn feature, every horse you burn you’ll get rewarded with more tokens.

So finally, we’ll have a place to send our donkeys!

There’s no mention whether the names will get burnt, but I imagine so.

Or at least, I hope!

Renting

Want to race Bubs Gold but aren’t sat on a pot of gold?

Well today’s your lucky day! Renting is coming to Zed Run which’ll allow you the opportunity to race horses from other stables which should hugely help onboard new users to the Zed Run Ecosystem.

Party Mode

Can I get a whoop whoop?!

Zed Run is introducing Seasons, which’ll introduce Daily & Seasonal Leaderboards.

Honestly, this will most likely be the best feature of 2022.

It’ll allow us to create our own races and have our own rules of entry.

Nothing will get the community pumping again quite like Custom Races.

Finally…

Marketing

It’s no secret, during the Summer of 2021 Zed Run was one of the most hyped projects in the NFT Space. Everyone wanted to own their very own race horse. However, the huge influx of new users probably hindered the progress of the project as instead of organically developing Zed Run, focus had to now turn to acquiring new talent and boosting the servers to meet the demand.

This led to a noticeable downturn across the platform.

However, that’s now behind us and the new additions are beginning to implement new features almost weekly and communication is the best I’ve ever seen it.

There’s still a long way to go but Zed Run is definitely back on the right path.

In Quarter 3, the team plans to begin marketing to the masses which will see a huge new influx of players join us here on Novus Earth.

I touched on Zed Run acquiring new talent, but something to note here is they didn’t rush this process. They’ve acquired without a doubt, some of the most talented people in the field.

If you’ve got this far, I’m impressed and really appreciate it. I plan on breaking down more Zed Run updates in the future so stick around.

What do you think about the Zed Run Roadmap? Do you think they’ll stick to their timelines? Let me know in the comments or message me @AwardRacing on twitter.
