ON THE TRACK WITH NAPTOWN COLTS

This weekend we were priviledged to get in touch with Naptown Colts! We are super excited to share this post with you guys as it is chalked full with great content and knowledge for Zed Run users to learn from.

Here is the interview!

Q – What Is Your Stable Name?

Naptown Colts LogoMost people will know my first stable, Naptown Colts!

I also have my breeding stable where I keep my studs and u/u horses called End of the Line Farms.

Q – What Are Your Stable’s Stats?

Our stable’s stats are ever-changing, but as of today, (October 28, 2021) our main stable, Naptown Colts, has around 89 horses in it.

In addition, we have placed first 537 times, second 457 times and third 377 times. Currently, my main stable is sitting at a 11.3% win rate!

In addition, End of the Line Farms has 52 horses in it currently with 12 wins, 10 second place finishes, and 4 third place finishes. That stable maintains a 13% win rate.

So, in total we have 141 horses and 549 won races!

Q – When Did You Start In Zed?

Originally I tried and failed to get a horse in the April Genesis drop.

After that attempt, I decided to buy 2 horses the next week on the after market to get started.

As you can see, I did not stop after just those 2 horses!

Q – What Is Your Proudest Achievement In ZED?

I hope my proudest achievement is yet to come, but I have a few that stand out.

  • Breeding one of the top exclusives Buterins in the game (Go Golden Go)
  • Getting to 1 ETH profit for Go Golden GO
  • Hitting 100 horses owned
  • Hitting 500 stable wins

While those are all great, I’m really excited for what’s to come like tournament championships & more!

Q – What Is Your Primary Focus In ZED? Breeding, Racing, or Selling?

My primary goal is winning Zed Races, so all three of those areas are vital.

They are the three sides of the winning triangle and without one, the rest are going to be harder.

I have had good success breeding and have a number of winning horses bred in my stable.

I have also sold many to get the ETH needed to continue a very large breeding operation.

Breeding and racing go hand in hand to support the ultimate goal – developing, buying, and breeding winners on the track.

Q – How Many Hours A Week Do You Dedicate To ZED?

I spend too many hours on Zed!

Honestly, it depends. Typically, I race 3-4 blocks a day (when I wake up, around lunch, around dinner, before bed).

Sometimes this is quick (3-4 races and done), others it’s longer (especially with this tournament, where I raced 50% of my stable at least 5-6 times).

I typically also research & re-rank my horses every few weeks.

Q – What Is Your Favorite Horse You Own And Why Do You Love It?

Go golden GoYour first love is the hardest to get over so Go Golden Go has to be my favorite.

He basically made all this happen & even got his own Twitter feed with fans that can be found here for those looking to follow!

I’ve been able to invest his race winnings into buying, breeding, and growing my stable.

Without him, I might still only have my zero win Genesis Mare (his mom) and my one win Z5 Nakamoto and be out the .7 ETH it cost to buy them.

Q – What Advice Would You Give To Someone Starting A ZED Stable Now?

There are tons of deals right now!

This is a great time to get into Zed. My advice is to be realistic about your budget and understand your goals.

It sounds fun playing with the big boys in Class 1, but when you get to that level, everything is more expensive & challenging (breeding, racing, winning, placing, etc.)

For those reasons, I like Szabo/Finney combinations & believe that top 20% buterins are going to be wildly ROI positive over the coming months.

Overall, I believe in starting your stable with a nice horse that will be ROI neutral. It is very important that you know the distance preference and how to run them.

Afterward, you can take a chance on an unraced horse that you can figure out on your own with good bloodlines & sibling success.

Q – Who Is Someone You Respect In The Zed Community And Why?

There are so many!

Too many to pick from. Honestly it would feel like a disservice to the community to just name one without naming all of them.

In the spirit of community, just follow my Twitter feed and see all the amazing content & creators I retweet daily!

All of them deserve your follow and support!

Q – Where Will ZED Be 24 Months From Today?

Zed Run Stable

On the moon.

I could (and have) spent hours thinking and writing about this. There are so many possibilities and so much to roll out that they don’t even know yet.

I think this is a 1 million daily active users game. Today, it’s around 10K users, so I think they will grow 100x in the next 2 years.

In addition, partnerships and sponsorships will change the game. Think massive stakes races with full coverage.

Honestly, the low end of the boom is real-life horse racing today. I think there will be more races, better onboarding, and tons of ways to play.

I am very bullish and believe this will be the golden example of the NFT boom. Here’s one example of a Twitter thread that I go into detail on what this could look like.

Q – If You Could Change One Thing About Zed What Would It Be And Why?

As much as I love Zed, they still have plenty of room to evolve.

There are many areas that could be improved (onboarding/new user experience, race entry flow, more ways to stand out (skins), more race types, etc.), but I think the area that is holding the platform back today is the class system.

There are so many reasons why, but they all boil down to this – The current system does not help grow the game.

I’m looking forward to how this is fixed and evolved over the next few months.

Q – What Is One Secret You Hate To Give Away But Will Tell Us About Your ZED Strategy?

It’s not a secret, but it is something you have to think about. Today, the cost of breeding is solely dependent on the male stud.

Therefore, exclusive & elite females stay at that level when bred with any genesis.

Due to this, I’ve been acquiring low Z Naka/Szabo/Finney exclusive/elite females & breeding in-house with Genesis Finney studs.

If you have the right genesis Finney, this can be an excellent way to build some nice bloodlines on a budget.

In the future, if we ever have Finney-only races or tournaments, you have a nice leg up.

Q – Any Last Comments?

One thing I think is so important to remember is where we are in the Zed lifecycle.

Today, there are 32,358 Zed Run horses for sale on Opensea right now.

This past weekend (October 29-31), Zed was promoted during Australia’s biggest horse racing event, the Melbourne Cup.

750 MILLION viewers watch. If .005% (.00005) of 750M want to buy a horse, there would be 5,142 people WHO COULD NOT GET A HORSE.

Do we think 37,500 people who love watching horse racing might want to buy a virtual racehorse next weekend? If I wanted to get in, I’d do it NOW.
