ON THE TRACK WITH ARBITRAGE RACING

On Friday we got in touch with the kings of the track, Arbitrage Racing! They took the time out of their busy schedule to answer our questions and give us some solid advice on racing that we can’t wait to share!

Here is the interview!

Q – What Is Your Stable Name?

Arbitrage Racing Logo

Our stable is called Arbitrage Racing! You can find it here.

The stable name actually started with Daily Fantasy Sports which my partner and I played jointly under the name Arbitrage DFS. We figured it could also apply to Zed and in picking a stable name it just stuck.

We currently own 15 horses in total.

To date (10/2/21), we have won 2,096 races. In addition, we have placed second 1,234 times and third 989 times for a total of 4,319 races shown.

We have a 17.26% win rate and have earned over 30 ETH in profit. Currently, we are ranked number one for racing profit in all of Zed!

Q – When Did You Start In Zed?

We came over from NBA Top Shot in late April 2021.

Originally, we heard about Zed from a friend and thought it sounded like a great game to try and pick up. Quickly, we fell in love with it.

Q – What Is Your Proudest Achievement In ZED?

Our proudest achievement is becoming the most profitable racing stable in Zed!

We have worked tremendously hard to achieve this goal.

In this coming year, we hope to solidify that claim by making the gap even larger from the second placed stable.

Q – What Is Your Primary Focus In ZED? Breeding, Racing, or Selling?

Our primary focus is on racing and getting the most out of our horses on the track.

More recently we have invested additional time and efforts into breeding.

With the help of Danshan’s blood tool we are looking to take the next step there as well.

You can be on the look out for some Arbitrage Racing offspring soon!

Q – How Many Hours A Week Do You Dedicate To ZED?

More than I’d like to admit considering I also have a full-time job.

Lately, in the fatigue era its probably down to the 30-40 hours a week range if I am being realistic.

Pre fatigue when you could run and scout horses all day there were times I’d grind out close to 60 hours a week easily.

I hope to get more time on the track soon if Zed decides to cut back on some of the stamina changes.

Q – What Is Your Favorite Horse You Own And Why Do You Love It?

LBJ Goat

The favorite horse that I own is LBJ Goat.

That is the horse that really put our stable on the map as one of the best racing stables in the game. It will  always be our first love in this game regardless of what we achieve later on.

The amount of knowledge we have gained and refined racing that horse 2200 times is invaluable. We couldn’t put a price on that horse even if we wanted to.

Q – What Advice Would You Give To Someone Starting A ZED Stable Now?

Don’t rush into buying your first horse. Take your time and learn the ropes first.

There are tons of great people and resources to learn from that will help you increase your chances that your first purchase will be a profitable one.

If you rush into the game too quickly, you could end up burning through your resources on horses that are not worth much.

Q – Who Is Someone You Respect In The Zed Community And Why?

Danshan on the breeding side for sure. With the amount of information and detail he provides within his tool, he is easily our favorite person to go to for breeding questions.

From the racing perspective we’ve always looked up to the original racing grinders.

Aloha Tim from Aloha Racing and Imferno from Catch me Ridin’ Derby are a couple stables we really tried to pattern our racing strategy after. This is once they proved there was a ton of money to be made on the track of course!

Q – What Are Your Thoughts About The Blood Tool And Why Did You Buy it?

We bought the blood tool because we wanted to expand the scope of our stable outside of just racing.

While there is a ton of great racing resources out there for free, breeding information and databases are much harder to come by.

After first seeing the blood tool from Danshan, I was very impressed with the amount of information he already had from the short period of time breeding had been opened.

I view the purchase as an investment in the future of our stable, and I think the blood tool gives us the best path to being successful breeders.

Q – Where Will ZED Be 24 Months From Today?

Arbitrage Racing Interview

I see the game looking very different than what we have today.

I expect there to be a much larger emphasis tournaments, whether it be specialty style tournaments featuring a specific coat color or breed of horse, or a sponsored high dollar Derby.

In addition, I also expect there to be the ability for companies to sponsor horses for these big tournaments.

There has already been some proof of this with the NASCAR partnership, but we expect it to scale to all kind of industries looking to get more exposure through Zed Run.

Q – If You Could Change One Thing About Zed What Would It Be And Why?

I would find a way to let the economic structure of the platform reward the best racers in the game with the most profitability on the track.

In order to do that at the moment you are forced to tank your horse, which while it does take a bit of skill and discovery, it does feel a bit unnatural.

Class 1 needs to be revitalized, and I think it starts with incentivizing the best horses to race there.

The best horses racing in class 1 should then naturally increase in value which will also bolster the market.

Q – What Is One Secret You Hate To Give Away But Will Tell Us About Your ZED Strategy?

Be one of the last to enter new races whenever possible.

You’d be surprised how many higher dollar races end up looking like low stakes if you study the fields and are patient.

A great tool for new comers to use is the KnowYourHorse platform. Search your desired race and make sure to study your competition!

Q – Any Last Comments?

Nope, we want to personally thank the Sanfrancisco Tribe for putting this together and including us in the stable interview series!
