We cheered, danced, laughed, and most importantly, celebrated the age-old sport of horse racing, but as they say, all good things must come to an end.
With that in mind, we’ve officially reached the conclusion of the 2021 Melbourne Cup Carnival celebration at ZED HQ, the first-ever event tied to ZED RUN’s partnership with Australia’s legendary Victoria Racing Club.
We’d like to take a moment to thank each and every one of you who participated and played a part in helping ZED RUN celebrate one of the world’s most iconic horse racing organisations.
Let’s take a step back, recap, and bask in what was truly an incredible collaboration with the Victoria Racing Club.
Flemington Racecourse
The 2021 Melbourne Cup Carnival may have ended, but the Flemington Racecourse lives on at ZED RUN.
The newest addition to our crop of signature custom-designed racetracks is the iconic home of the Lexus Melbourne Cup, which will remain in our ecosystem for the foreseeable future for stable owners to continue to enjoy.
ZED RUN Sponsors The Wakeful Stakes
The Melbourne Cup Carnival festivities burst out of the gates with a bang with the ZED RUN sponsored 2000m Wakeful Stakes. With ZED RUN branding appearing everywhere from garments draped on horses warming up prior to real estate in the official racebook, fans watched as the winning horse, Willowy, took home the lion’s share of the $300,000 prize pool.
Millions of people — both in-person and broadcast around the world — tuned in to Penfold Victoria Derby Day and watched the ZED RUN Wakeful Stakes. What a thrilling way to introduce fans of traditional real-world horse racing to the new-age futuristic digital race-horsing world.
The Lexus Melbourne Cup Party at ZED HQ
The Lexus Melbourne Cup Watch Party at ZED HQ in Vegas City, Decentraland marked the first time ZED RUN had aired a live broadcast in the metaverse, and what an unbelievable time it was! The ZED RUN community turned out in huge numbers to watch Australian Horse of the Year, Very Elleegant, win the Lexus Melbourne Cup.
In total, almost 5,000 users attended the virtual watch party, with 2,700 of those guests claiming their free commemorative Melbourne Cup Watch Party POAP. In addition, 1,521 guests completed and claimed the Treasure Hunt POAP.
Guests were greeted at the door by host Lyndsey Rodrigues, treated to music provided by DJ Havana Brown, claimed their free tuxedo wearables, and explored the beautifully redecorated ZED HQ that had been specially transformed into a Melbourne Carnival Cup wonderland.
VRC NFT Auction
A fitting grand finale of our Victoria Racing Club partnership event, the Melbourne Cup Carnival Collection auction offered a set of ten rare NFTs featuring moments from the most legendary races in the history of the Lexus Melbourne Cup.
With the auction concluding, all ten winning bidders will receive not only the VRC Moment NFT, but separately, will receive a VRC Experience NFT that can be redeemed for (2) Premium General admission tickets to Melbourne Cup 2022 and (1) x VIP experience at Melbourne Cup 2022.
